Facilities of the Hacienda

The historic site is where the Casa Quinta (main house) and the original labor area are located. In the Casa Quinta are the rooms where the liberator Simón Bolívar lived and died. It references rural colonial architecture surrounded by spectacular old trees and has been restored into a picturesque house museum. You can find Bolivar's bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and other rooms along with the original furniture of the time.

Contiguous to the Casa Quinta, you will be able to visit the facilities of the labor sector of the property, which included: 

  • Bagasse Store

  • Sugar Mill

  • Distillery 

  • Basement

Homeland Altar 

It has a beautiful republican style since it was built in 1930 to commemorate the centenary of the death of the Liberator Bolivar. 

  • Inside are the spectacular marble sculptures of Bolivar and representations of Colombia, the goddess of prosperity, and the goddess of freedom.

  • Flags Square: In front of the altar, it is an imposing square where the flags of all the countries of the Americas are displayed in honor of Bolivar's continental dream. It was built in 1980 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the death of the Liberator.

Museum of Contemporary Art 

It was founded in 1986 to display different samples of Latin American art. The museum has permanent and temporary collections, within which you can find pieces of painting, sculpture, and photography.

It also has outdoor and indoor exhibition and event halls, including the stunning Joaquín de Mier outdoor theater, known locally as "the Agora."

Botanical Garden

It was created under an agreement between the University of Magdalena and the Bolivarian Museum Foundation in 2004 to take advantage of the natural advantages of the land on which the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino is located. It has trees over 100 years old and includes species from all the countries of the Americas. In addition to a panoramic lake, different areas with benches, and perfect places for picnics, the Botanical Garden has a cafe and souvenir store. 

How to get to Quinta San Pedro Alejandrino?

Quinta San Pedro Alejandrino is located in Santa Marta, Colombia, just 5 kilometers from the city's Historic Center and at the foot of the low hills of the splendid Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta (the highest coastal mountain in the world).

The farm's land is located in the Mamatoco neighborhood in the city's northeast, in front of the well-known Buenavista Shopping Center. There is a pedestrian and vehicular entrance to the land; 500 meters ahead is the entrance and ticket office.

You can take a cab or public transportation bus; you can also take a private car. Please note that the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino is open every day of the year, except January 1. Opening hours are from 09:00 AM to 05:30 PM during high season and from 09:00 AM to 04:30 PM during low season.

Quinta de San Pedro's Tickets Fee 

The prices for tickets to the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino throughout the year are as follows:

  1. Children from 0 to 5 years old (Nationals and Foreigners): FREE.

  2. Children from 6 to 12 years old (Nationals and Foreigners): $15,000 COP

  3. Nationals from 13 to 64 years old: $17,000 COP

  4. Foreigners from 13 to 64 years old: $23,000 COP

  5. Nationals over 65 years old: $15,000 COP

  6. Foreigners over 65 years old: $21,000 COP

  7. Adults over 65 years of age categorized in SISBEN 1 and 2: FREE

  8. Active and retired military: FREE
