Santa Marta's Fiesta del Mar, popularly known as "Las Fiestas del Mar", is the city's most important annual event. This event is held in the last days of July, coinciding with the commemoration of the founding of Santa Marta on July 29th. This year, the city celebrates its 499th anniversary, marking the beginning of the countdown to 500 years of its existence.

As part of the Fiestas del Mar, the cooking festival organized by Acodrés, Cocinar Santa Marta, also known as "the Samarian Cuisine Festival", a proposal to showcase local culinary techniques, will be taking place.
