The Festival of the Sea in Santa Marta, known by most as "Las Fiestas del Mar", is the biggest annual event that makes the city, is held in the last days of July as part of the celebration of the founding of Santa Marta (July 29) that is to say that this year we celebrate 498 years. During the Fiestas del Mar several activities take place in different parts of the city, among the most common are: nautical parades, water sports competitions, fishing contests, gastronomic exhibitions, art exhibitions, live music performances and traditional dances. In addition, sporting events such as marathons and beach volleyball tournaments are usually held.
For this 2023 the Fiesta del Mar will bring these activities and festivals such as the Festival de Verano y Música al Mar, Festival de la Cocina Samaria, Festival de Juglares Vallenatos, Festival de los Niños y el Mar, within which there will be concerts, gastronomic shows and other cultural activities.

While the parades will be in the afternoon, starting at 1:00 p.m. The gastronomic events will be in the morning and afternoon so you have no excuse to live one of the best times of the year in Santa Marta.
It is worth mentioning that on this occasion the election of the National Captaincy of the Sea will be resumed; likewise, the beauty and talent of the young Samarian girls will be highlighted again in the Popular Captaincy.

As part of the Fiestas del Mar, the cooking festival organized by Acodrés, Cocinar Santa Marta, also known as "the Samarian Cuisine Festival", a proposal to showcase local culinary techniques, will be taking place.
