Description

Enjoy Santa Marta and its magic; this is the oldest city in South America. It keeps a historical and cultural legacy with unique colonial treasures that you will discover as you make the tour. In addition, its architectural heritage is worth appreciating and photographing. In this tour, you will find different places that the liberator Simon Bolivar visited.
  • Meeting point: lodging
    Starting time: 09:00 a. m. to 01:00 p. m - 2:00 p. m. to 6:00 p. m.

We start this spectacular tour from the pick up at the lodging of each of the participants to then join on a journey through the city, crossing the main avenues and visiting the following places:

Historical Center of Santa Marta, where we will find buildings between colonial and republican style, travel from the discovery, the conquest, and the war against the monarchy. The Historical Center of Santa Marta is a small portfolio of all the national history of Colombia.
Gold Museum or Old Customs Office, where the liberator Simón Bolívar was received upon his arrival to the city of Santa Marta, and then people had a wake for him. Today is the Gold Museum. An extraordinary collection, which puts in context the cultural heritage and a beautifully restored colonial house that invites you to explore the past and present of Santa Marta, the department of Magdalena, and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
Santa Marta's Cathedral is one of the architectural masterpieces of the city of Santa Marta. It is the oldest cathedral in Colombia, where the Liberator Simón Bolívar was buried before being transferred to his hometown. Currently, among its beautiful stained glass windows and marble floor lie the remains of the founder of the city Rodrigo de Bastidas.
Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, a former sugar mill where the Liberator Simón Bolívar spent his last days. Inside this vast hacienda, you will be able to appreciate a historical collection, an art collection, and a beautiful botanical garden.
The sculpture of Carlos 'El Pibe' Valderrama, one of the greatest exponents of Colombian soccer, has been a reference for many generations. He is remembered as the captain of the Colombian team that participated in the World Cup in 1990, 1994, and 1998.
Taganga viewpoint: Taganga is the most renowned fishing village in Colombia. Famous for the artisanal fishing tradition of its inhabitants, it is also an excellent beach resort for those who wish to soak up some sun. In history, it is mentioned not only by the natives of the area but also for having one of the oldest churches in the city. We’ll have the opportunity to see the whole village from a stunning view.

At the end of the tour you will have the option of visiting the Casa Marina Experiences Center as a last stop, where you can enjoy coffee, murals and a special show room, or return to the hotel.
